Just signed up for the 5150 package last night and listened to the first part of the Blues Saraceno podcast, so funny.

How does the whole thing work?  Is the Sammy era stuff available down the line after it's produced and how do I access the Axe Fx patches etc?

Also I've only got an Axe 2 mark 1

Hey Dweezil, happy New Year to you and everyone else here

Thanks a million for doing this, I’m enjoying every minute of it. As I was re-listening to some of the earlier episodes over the Holidays I made a little discovery of my own: from the way Paul Gilbert performed the chordal volume swells in the intro to You’re No Good I realized that these are virtually identical to those that close Tattoo (it’s my favorite part of that song). It's the same chord sequence, but as an opener the A-pedal in the bass gives it a very different vibe, while as a closing statement it ends on a sus. Why not take a great opening sequence a make it a great closing sequence  Always fun to see Edward move ideas around

Can’t wait for the Fair Warning episodes, Nuno’s one of my all-time favorites and Fair Warning is just about perfect!

Another great couple of pod casts with Blues. Never knew about Nicolette Larson's background vocals and then Eddie subsequently playing on her song. So cool

Hey Dweezil...I am watching a ton of videos on YouTube but I am not convinced that they have the opening riff of Unchained correct. I had taken a group lesson from you a couple years ago and kick myself for not asking you to show us the correct way to play it.  If you could spare a couple minutes just to break down the greatest riff in the history of rock and roll it would be greatly appreciated.

Dirty rotten failing hard drives.... love ya dweez!

Seasons Greetings from 'Down Under' Dweezil...what an awesome package you've put together! Big fan of yours for a long time, and we actually have a mutual friend down here in Melbourne-town. I actually found some very good Kemper VH profiles, that I used when I was asked to headline at last years Melbourne Guitar Show to play all of VH1 album from start to finish. (If you want to hear how they translated on the gig, you can see the show here bit.ly/2UHABOz

I ended up tweaking them a bit of course to get them even closer to the record, and so would be more than happy to hand them over to you for your '5150 package' materials if you like? - after all, everyone should get to enjoy them.

Thank you again sir, for bringing us all together. Grieving Eddie was pretty rough down here in Melbourne, because we were in full lockdown at the time, and so could not get together even with one person to raise a glass. Your podcast bringing all sorts of wonderful players together is a BIG help.

Peace and Loves,

Simon

Dweezil

Hi Simon,

Thanks for the kind words! I watched your concert and it was great! It's not easy playing those songs! I also liked your own additions in the outro of House Of Pain. When it comes time to do the episode on the reverse engineering the Brown Sound it would great to include your presets for the Kemper folks! Once again, great playing! Best, DZ

Merry Xmas! What a gift you've given us. If all you got for $51.50 were the two Steve Vai episodes... it would still be well worth the money. What an amazing 2 hours or so of praise, admiration and the detailed dissection of Edward's music. Wow!!  Thank you Dweezil and of course thank you Steve.

Happy Holidays!

Fantastic podcast! Worth ever cent! Can't wait for the next episode. It's the highlight of my week.Cheers!

Dweezil

Thanks Orjan! There's a lot more to come!

Merry Christmas!!! Curious is there a new episode this week?

Dweezil

Hi Jim,

Yes! I'm still working hard to finish it after my computer died. I'll keep you posted! It's got a great surprise in it too!

Awww that sucks. I didn’t know your comp died.

Hey,,, Merry Christmas to you and yours ( and thanks for the always quick responses).

Dweezil

Thanks Jim! Merry Christmas to you too! Yes, there was a big iCloud problem and my computer ground to a halt. I've got it up and running again so I'm trying to get back on track so I can get out of the loop of missed deadlines! I've 2 Nuno Episodes to finish and then Billy Corgan! Best, DZ

Merry Christmas again  D and sorry for asking about episode,,,,  I saw you posted a little “fair warning” regarding this week’s episode on Instagram lol. Duh my bad ,, didn’t see before my post.  Hope all is well and happy festivus lol

Dweezil,  any possibility that one of these 30 or so podcasts could include Jacob Deraps? Like you,  I found him on YouTube a few years ago. Then saw you included him at one of your shows in Canada. Quite gracious of you to help a relative unknown guitarist. You guys were amazing together. I just think more people should know who he is and see how much EVH rhythm and lead playing is truly flowing through him.

Dweezil

Hi Jeffrey,

For sure! I'll be interviewing him soon!

Oh this is so cool and rockNroll!! Thanks for all these Dweezil!

Quick question regarding the Paul Gilbert episode, where can I find the extended solo version of « Somebody get me a doctor » you played in the episode please? (Info/year/bootleg)

Thanks a lot, and cannot wait for all these episodes to come!

Joyeux Noël from France!

Dweezil

Hi Julien,

Merry Xmas! I'm glad you're enjoying the podcast. Offhand I can't recall which bootleg that version is from. I believe it's from one of the Pasadena Civic auditorium shows. You might search those first and see if you find it. There are multiple versions of Somebody Get Me A Doctor with the extended solo out there on the internet!

Best, DZ

Thank you Dweezil, found it! good to hear :-)

Besides the Sunset Sound interview series on Youtube, this is the coolest thing you can get as a fan of Eddie and Van Halen. Of course, I had to have the 5150 package immediately! Thank you for this great podcast series! It's very sad that Eddie is no longer with us. But it comforts me a little that you can now find so many interesting interviews on the internet. I could listen to all of these contemporaries and their stories for hours. One final question: How do you get your one-year subscription to Premier Guitar? I can't find a link, but maybe I missed it. Greetings from Germany!

I'm curious about how we claim our Premier Guitar subscription as well. Also curious when flac files of the episodes will be available. Thanks.

Don’t for one second under estimate the value of these conversations. Edwards loss is hard for all of us to process and having professionals of a similar age group fawn over his legacy makes the grieving process go a little better. I’m nearly 50 years old....my entire life as far as I can remember Van Halen has been on my turntable, cassette deck, CD player, MP3 player and iPhone.  I have no special bond with the music that’s different than anyone else’s. I didn’t know Edward or grow up at Frank Zappa‘s house, but hearing your experiences personalizes it and humanizes a God amongst men.  It wasn’t just a guitar playing or the smile, it turns out he was just a good dude too.

Oh... and Paul Gilbert is a freaking monster. He’s a human jukebox. Unbelievable. And your relationship with blues clearly translates through the conversation. It’s like listening to two brothers.

Absolutely *love* all these episodes & their varying tones: Vai the elder statesman, Paul the vibrant--damn near vibrating--VH fanatic, & Blues the old pal reliving a shared youth. Also, my wife cracks up every time I replay the clip about Blues in a paper bag--she always says, "well, cuz the dog"--so, even more than all the amazing music talk about the guy & the records who started it all for me (OK, after Kiss), thanks for providing us with our deepest, fullest laugh of the year. This rocks.

Really Looking forward to the fair warning episodes. I love hearing you talk about his unique guitars.  Is it possible that the rasta/unchained guitar is so heavy because it has so many layers of paint and possibly a maple body? I had read that  Frankenstein was possibly a type of ash  Thanks Dweezil!

Dweezil - just finished the W&CF episodes with Blues. First great hearing the two of you play off each other. Great genuine talk and I can listen to that all day.  Plus when you get into the specific phrasing and influence and the details. Wow. Thank you so much. This is what I have always wanted. I hope we get to hear the same for other guitarist like you and your dad. The perspective the topics just amazing potential. Thanks for this great gift to the fans. Happy holidays to you and your family and I’m looking forward to my favorite album Fair Warning

Dweezil

Hi Robert,

Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying the episodes. I do plan to do podcast series about my dad's music one of these days. It will be epic and super detailed! Working on the Fair Warning episode. Sorry for the delay!

Best, DZ

This is all so wonderful.  Love every minute of it. What an incredible first episode. Thanks Dweezil and Steve

Dweezil

Hi Jefferey,

Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying it. Happy Holidays!

DZ - This comment may not belong here, but I'm thinkin that you may see it. I have purchased everything that you have to offer on this site. I also purchased the t-shirts relating to the b******t that you went through with the ZPZ name. So. I am looking for you to take your considerable wit, whether it be a quote, or a lyric, and plaster it on a quality t-shirt, along with your name. Put me down for 2 XXL and 2 XL for starters. How about you take up a collection from us, put your name on the front, and our name on the back.

Dweezil and Friends. My Fans Got My Back.

Dweezil

Hi Mike,

I will see what I can do! Thanks again for your support!

Great podcast! The detail on this is insane. Note: The Nicolette Larson album came out in 78.

Dweezil

Thanks Michael! I do recall hearing that, I didn't have notes in front of me about that at the time of the interview.

Dweezil,

This series is amazing. Thanks for being the guy who can lead this for all of us VH nerds.
Thank you!
